KyivPeninsulainAntarctica

Welcome to Kyiv! Perhaps, you’ll say, “What?”. Wait, we can totally imagine your surprise if you have never heard about the Kyiv Peninsula in Antarctica! It’s not by chance it has that particular name — the Ukrainian Antarctic Station named after Volodymyr Vernadsky is located not far from it.

The photo itself was taken on the Petermann island, lying off the northwest coast of the Kyiv Peninsula (its mountains are in the background). There on the neigbouring island, which is a popular tourist destination, you can meet many of these cute Adélie penguins.
