Shkrub House by Ukrainian architecture studio Sergey Makhno Architects has won the international competition IIDA 2020 Global Excellence Awards.

It was built as a family house with a mixture of Ukrainian and Japanese elements in its design. What is amazing about this project is a distinctive construction technique, which was widely used for traditional Ukrainian countryside houses called ‘mazanka’. Eco-materials like clay and brushwood helped to erect the house’s walls and roof.
